August 28, 2015 - Maxime Rooney Shines at World Junior Championships

The name Maxime Rooney (Pleasanton Seahawks) is synonomous with accomplishments to those of us within Pacific Swimming. But this summer, Maxime has taken his hard work and talents outside the LSC and his amazing achievements were numerous in the last month.

At Junior Nationals (July 30-Aug. 3), in San Antonio, TX, Maxime won both the 200 Free and the 100 Free (a new Pacific Record). He took silver in the 100 Fly and 50 Free and a bronze in the 200 Fly.

Directly after that, Maxime swam in Nationals (Aug. 6-10), winning the 200 Free in 1:47.10, a new FINA World Junior Record (and also a new Pacific Record). Subsequently, he was selected for the FINA World Junior Championship meet in Singapore, where he will be swim the 100 Free, 200 Free and relays.

This week, at the FINA World Junior Championships in Singapore, Maxime is the only non-university Pacific Swimming swimmer on the team. So far, individually, he has won a gold medal in the 200 Free! He was also part of the silver medal winning 4x100 Free Relay and the gold medal 4x200 Free Relay (a new World Junior Record).

Congratulations to Maxime on all your accomplishments and those that are still to come this week!
