July 8, 2024 - Pacific Swimming Participation at the Western Zone Diversity Select Camp
From June 17-20, three Pacific Swimming athletes attended the 2024 Western Zone Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Camp in Indianapolis, Indiana. The purpose of this camp was to instill a vision of success and inspire athletes from under-represented populations to become leaders in the sport of swimming.
The three swimmers, Nathan Bareilles (HSC), Xander Caranicolas (MCSD), and Monica Warren (WCAB), attended multiple in-water practice sessions and educational talks. They got to learn from Carmel swim coach Tom Burchill, DEI director at USA Swimming Leland Brown, coach and entrepreneur Abbie Fish, open water swimmer Meredith Novak and swimmer Trevor Freeland. They also got to attend a Finals Session at the 2024 USA Swimming Olympic Trials!
